FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. – The NFL features some of the best rivalries in all of sports. Hyundai is harnessing fan passion for those rivalries with its new digital and social promotion called Put Your Profile On The Line. Through the platform, fans have an exciting opportunity to challenge one another on the outcome of their favorite games, with the stakes being their Facebook profile picture.

Fans select their favorite team, then identify Facebook friends that they’d like to challenge that week. Once this is chosen and the challenge has been accepted, friends put their Facebook profile picture “on the line.” Based on the outcome of the game, both fans will receive a link to the losing fan’s Facebook profile picture with an overlay featuring the logo of the winning team. Both fans will be encouraged to share the picture to their Facebook profiles. Every time fans compete in a challenge, they will automatically enter a sweepstakes for the chance to win tickets to Super Bowl LI.

Hyundai plans Super Bowl 50 TV ad campaign

Hyundai’s First Year as an Official NFL Sponsor to Culminate with a Fully Integrated Marketing Super Bowl Campaign

Two 30-Second In-Game Ads; One 60-Second Pre-kick Spot; One 60-Second Pre-game Ad

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., – In its first year as an official NFL sponsor, Hyundai is returning to the Super Bowl marketing game in a big way. During the Super Bowl 50 broadcast on Feb. 7, 2016, Hyundai will run two in-game 30-second spots before halftime, with the new creative appearing during the first and second quarter of the game. Hyundai also secured the coveted pre-kick slot and will run a new 60-second ad as viewers are primed for the start of The Big Game. And that’s not all, as the pre-game show will also feature another all-new 60-second Hyundai spot.

“It’s fitting that our most strategic Super Bowl marketing program ever at Hyundai is happening during Super Bowl 50 and what is anticipated to be the most-watched TV event of all time,” said Dean Evans, chief marketing officer, Hyundai Motor America. “Our entire marketing team, both internally and at the agency, is hard at work developing the integrated campaign that includes four new ads and bringing attention to some of the dynamic vehicles and technologies that make up Hyundai’s lineup in a fun and engaging way.”

Hyundai is a longtime Super Bowl advertiser and, after sitting out last year, is back in the game for the eighth time in the last nine years. The new ads are just one part of Hyundai’s integrated Super Bowl marketing program, which will also include a strong digital media presence, experiential activations in the San Francisco Bay Area and more than 400 Hyundai vehicles serving as promotional cars throughout Super Bowl week.

Hyundai’s “Dad’s Sixth Sense” ad was named the second most effective advertisement in the year’s first quarter by Ace Metrix.

In Hyundai’s last Super Bowl advertising appearance in 2014, “Dad’s Sixth Sense,” featuring the all-new 2015 Genesis, placed sixth on USA Today’s all-important Ad Meter, while Ace Metrix, the industry standard in television and video advertising analytics, awarded the spot a No. 2 ranking, calling it “one of the only ads of the game to be both effective and humorous.”

Earlier this year, Hyundai inked a deal with the NFL, separate from its Super Bowl package, to become the League’s official car, SUV and luxury vehicle. The campaign this first year has revolved around celebrating fan passion, including sponsorship of the NFL’s Kickoff celebration and the release of two fan-inspired ads that run every Sunday: “D-Gate” and “Field Goal.”

Hyundai’s advertising agency of record, INNOCEAN Worldwide, is developing the four new Super Bowl TV spots.

Hyundai kicks off NFL Season Thursday

Kickoff Celebration Includes Two All-new Fan-inspired Television Ads

Hyundai’s first NFL marketing execution launches literally with the very first kick of the regular season when the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots host the Pittsburgh Steelers Sept. 10 in Foxboro, Mass.

Hyundai Motor America is the presenting sponsor of the 2015 NFL Kickoff activities that include a concert in the San Francisco Bay Area, home of Super Bowl 50. Hyundai is also unveiling two new NFL-themed television ads that highlight what it truly means to be a fan.

“Our NFL campaign is all about conveying our love for football and providing opportunities for people to celebrate the game in a meaningful way,” said Jacquelyn Kim, director, customer communications and promotions, Hyundai Motor America. “In the new television creative, we want to showcase what passionate fans do #BecauseFootball, and include the role our vehicles can play in that.”

Hyundai’s New NFL Creative

Hyundai’s all-new Tucson SUV just recently hit dealers, and with its Hands-free Smart Liftgate with additional cargo space, is the perfect vehicle to help fans come game day. Hyundai’s “D-Gate” 30-second spot, which will run during the season opener, is a fun take on some passionate Arizona Cardinals fans and their effort to create the ultimate symbol of support for their team.

“Field Goal,” a 30-second spot slated for first run on September 24, is a tribute to fan passion. A Houston Texans fan with a napping newborn baby must take to the comforts of his new Sonata – his ultimate sanctuary. Both ads will run in NFL broadcast and online properties, and network game coverage throughout the season, as well as on Hyundai’s YouTube channel. These ads are just the first in a series of football-themed creative in a season-long celebration of the sport and its fans.

2015 NFL Kickoff Presented by Hyundai

The NFL is kicking off its 96th season and drive toward Super Bowl 50 with festivities in both New England, home of the Super Bowl XLIX champions, and the San Francisco Bay Area on Thursday, September 10. These festivities will lead into the season opener.

The celebrations, presented by Hyundai, begin in San Francisco with a free concert outside Justin Herman Plaza.

Hyundai’s activation will also include a substantial presence at the Kickoff to 50 presented by Hyundai Fan Fest, open September 9-10, located at San Francisco’s Pier 35. Hyundai will have its FieldHouse football-fan experience, including a Super Bowl 50 gold-wrapped Hyundai Tucson and a Santa Fe customized for tailgating. Fans can interact with the vehicles, lounge on plush couches while watching several big-screen TVs and share their passion in anticipation of the new season. In addition to several promotional handout items and a green-screen fan photo opportunity, fans can enter a sweepstakes to win an all-new 2016 Tucson by checking into the Hyundai space by using their NFL Fan Mobile Pass.

Android Auto in the 2015 Hyundai Sonata

Android Auto
Android Auto not only brings a high technology experience to Hyundai owners, but also improves safety. For example, at any given daylight moment across America, approximately 660,000 drivers are using cell phones or manipulating electronic devices while driving, a number that has held steady since 2010. Android Auto helps keep drivers’ eyes and attention on the road by integrating the advanced driving-related functions of the user’s smartphone with the familiar centralized screen, physical controls and microphone of their car. Furthermore, the smartphone’s screen becomes “locked,” so drivers are not tempted to look down and interact with their phones directly while Android Auto is in use.

Owners will need the Android 5.0 “Lollipop” operating system or later, and the Android Auto companion app on their compatible phone to utilize Android Auto in the Sonata. A micro USB cable is required to connect the phone to the car’s USB port. The first time an owner plugs his or her phone into their parked Sonata, the phone will prompt the download of the Android Auto companion app from the Google Play. Users of Android Auto will instantly recognize familiar Android phone applications, such as Google Maps, Google Now, messaging, phone calling and Google Play Music upon connecting their Android phone to their Hyundai vehicle. These applications can be controlled by voice, steering wheel controls and touchscreen. Android Auto also will offer many popular third-party audio apps that owners have on their phones, including iHeartRadio, Spotify, TuneIn, NPR, Stitcher, Slacker, Skype, TextMe and many more. Owners can find out up-to-date information about phone compatibility at Google Support for Android Auto (

Hyundai projects new NFL sponsorship on its HQ

With NFL training camps less than a month away from opening  – thankfully – Hyundai Motor America didn’t take long to project the National Football League’s main sponsorship message along the 405 freeway in Orange County at Hyundai’s headquarters in Fountain Valley, Calif.
To project its new message, Hyundai used projection mapping technology to display the Hyundai and NFL logos over a football field background on the west side of its headquarters. Hyundai’s HQ faces a section of the 405 freeway that is one of the busiest in the state, with more than 377,000 vehicle trips daily, according to Caltran.
